Pollution

1. For the purposes of the Water Act, pollution is defined as the act and effect of introducing substances or forms of energy, or inducing conditions in water that, directly or indirectly, cause a harmful alteration of its quality in relation to subsequent uses, human health, or aquatic or terrestrial ecosystems directly associated with aquatic ecosystems; cause damage to property; and impair or hinder the enjoyment and use of the environment. 2. The introduction of nitrogen compounds of agricultural origin into the aquatic environment, directly or indirectly, that has consequences that may endanger human health, harm living resources and the aquatic ecosystem, damage recreational areas, or cause disturbances to other legitimate uses of water.
