This demographic indicator shows the proportion of deaths of children aged one year and under in a given place and time relative to the total number of children aged one year and under. It is calculated by dividing the number of deaths of children under one year old by the number of births in the last year and multiplying the result by one thousand. This rate is related to development and wealth conditions.
