Paramo

1. A more or less elevated and horizontal surface with poorly developed, rocky, or stony soil, unsuitable for agriculture. It is usually capped by a limestone stratum more resistant to erosion. Associated with the countryside, it is characteristic of the northern subplateau. 2. A flat, exposed plateau, the remnant of a sedimentary plain that has survived thanks to the substrate's resistance to erosion.
