Estuary

1. The lower reaches of a river, from its mouth at the sea to the point where the tide rises and fresh and salt water mix. 2. A former river valley flooded by the sea. 3. A river valley whose mouth is inundated by seawater due to coastal subsidence, rising sea levels, or both.
