The OSR develops several lines of research as a contribution to the creation of a knowledge framework on the sustainability of irrigation.
To this end, the OSR carries out academic collaborations committed to priority issues for national irrigation.
Currently, initial collaborations have already begun regarding:
Interdependent relationships between irrigation and population settlement.
Functions of soil organic matter with fertility, water retention capacity and carbon fixation.
Estimation of carbon sequestration by crops at the planning level.
Study on improving water efficiency through the modernization of irrigation infrastructure.
Study on improving water efficiency through new technologies in irrigation modernization.
The results of these lines of research, and other new ones that will be incorporated within the framework of the OSR, will build a common space shared with the protagonists of irrigation, responding to research for sustainable rural development.
Continuous learning space, focused from the bottom up, integrating the knowledge of the field and its protagonists for the exchange of experiences and knowledge.
