Provincial management body with certain local powers. Provincial councils do not exist in island provinces, as their functions are carried out by the island councils (Canary Islands) or island councils (Balearic Islands) of each island. Nor do provincial councils exist in single-province Autonomous Communities, whose functions are assumed by the Autonomous Community itself.
