Map

A scaled graphic representation of all or part of the Earth's surface, usually drawn on a flat surface. Its creation requires reducing a very large area to a smaller one through scaling, representing an approximately spherical surface on a flat one using projection systems, and representing a three-dimensional space in a two-dimensional one, using contour lines or colors with hypsometric tints.
