Population census

This source records demographic, sociocultural, and economic characteristics of a population, such as age, marital status, nationality, education level, and employment status, among many others. It is a static document—reflecting the state of the population at a specific point in time—and highly detailed due to the amount of data it provides. In Spain, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) compiles it every ten years (those ending in 1). Until 2001, it conducted a comprehensive population count, but since 2011, it has relied on the Municipal Register and a survey of over 10% of the population.
