Evergreen

Relating to plants or plant formations that retain their leaves year-round, as opposed to deciduous trees. In Spain, these are characteristic of the Mediterranean climate and biogeographic region, and are also found in the Canary Islands' laurel forest. Representative species include holm oak, cork oak, and pine.

Smallholding

Small-scale agricultural holdings, typically cultivated through mixed farming and oriented toward self-consumption. In Spain, they are found primarily in the north and east.

Monoculture

A farming system based on the production of a single product across the entire farm. This type of production is intended for the market and is associated with large farms.

Openfield

Maquia
