Sharecropping

A form of agricultural exploitation consisting of the transfer of land exploitation to a third party by the owner, in exchange for payment in the form of a portion of the profits obtained.

Fallow

Part of a farm cultivated using rotation techniques, which is temporarily left uncultivated, with the aim of regenerating the soil naturally during that time.

Organic farming

Type of organic farming in which the use of chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, etc. is avoided.

Extensive/intensive agriculture

Agricultural production systems that seek maximum yield based on the area farmed (extensive) or on the technological advancement of production (intensive). The latter requires greater investment than the former.

Water

As a natural resource, water is the foundation of food production, whether it's simply rainwater, water supplied by irrigation to crops, or water needed to raise livestock.
