Bocage (closed fields)

A type of agricultural land division in which the boundaries are enclosed by walls, hedges, fences, slopes, etc., which gives it the name of closed field landscapes.

Deciduous

Relating to plants or plant formations that lose their leaves during the cold season. In Spain, these formations are characteristic of the oceanic climate and, consequently, of the Eurosiberian biogeographic region. They feature trees with straight, smooth trunks and broad leaves, such as oak or beech, and a sparse understory.

Organic farming

Type of organic farming in which the use of chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, etc. is avoided.

Extensive/intensive agriculture

Agricultural production systems that seek maximum yield based on the area farmed (extensive) or on the technological advancement of production (intensive). The latter requires greater investment than the former.

Water

As a natural resource, water is the foundation of food production, whether it's simply rainwater, water supplied by irrigation to crops, or water needed to raise livestock.
